Our thanks to John Clarke of Merseyside Wheelers who organised the event. His comments are below.

Despite the change in the weather we had a very good turnout of riders for this event. The roads were damp from the overnight rain and the drizzle falling during the event. Fortunately there were no incidents. Congratulations to everyone who rode as the numbers made it well worthwhile our club promoting this event. I hope that those new to this side of cycle racing "enjoyed" it.
Participating for the first time, the Southport CC, provided many of the extra riders this year and we thank Bill Lloyd of the Southport for stepping in and being "holder-upper"!!
I would also like to thank my clubmates Paul Olson and Kit Carson for being "true" bikies by riding out to the event and officiating as timekeepers. Club Members Sandra and George Corfe stood in the Prince William car Park collecting our race numbers just in case someone rode off home with it still pinned to their jersey!! My wife Lil kindly braved the damp and wet conditions to act as Signing-On steward, collecting the CTT race levies. Finally the Club would like to thank the Proprietors of the Prince William for allowing us to use their Car Park. John Clarke

Time Trials - Hill Climbs

The Club Hill Climb Competition for 2011 will be a part of an inter-club event with Merseyside Wheelers as promoter and two other clubs. The date is Sunday October 2nd. 2011.

The maximum number of riders will be 50, with a start time of 11.30.am. on the Ashurst Hill.( See below)

The event will be a "Come & Try It" and provided the C.T.T. Club Event Levy remains unchanged the cost will be £2.00. Any riders under 18 on the day of the event must bring a completed C.T.T. parental consent form.

The committee hope that the venue being nearer to Southport than in previous years will encourage a good turn out of competitors and supporters on the day.

John Findley Wins Liverpool Mercury Hill Climb

Do we have a successor to Jim Henderson? - Congratulations to John.

Report Below is from Liverpool Mercury.

Liverpool Mercury Hill Climb   31 October 2010
Ashurst Beacon
THERE were some scarily fast times for the 2010 Liverpool Mercury (Dolan) Hill Climb Competition at Ashurst Beacon on Halloween (Sunday, October 31).
Sadly, no-one turned up for the two-mile long climb in costume, but there were a total of 26 riders taking on the challenge, including some of the mountain bike lads - making it the biggest field for some years.

John Findley

Guest rider John Findley (Southport CC) raced up from Lees Lane to the Prince William pub at the top of Ashurst in 7mins 00secs, while Dominic Smith followed him closely with a time of 7mins 17secs.
Unfortunately, both are not full members of club. John was riding as a guest, while Dominic is due to join the club tonight. As the rules stand, neither of their times can officially stand - but at least they have bragging rights for the next 12 months.
King of the Hill for 2010 is therefore Dave Rickets, who clocked up an impressive time of 7.20, while second place goes to Chris Edwards (7.21), followed by hill climb veteran Ray Pugh (7.23) and young gun Sam Palin (7.50).
Chairman Tony McQuade, who was chuffed to bits after knocking more than a minute off his time from last year, said: "On behalf of the committee, I would like to pass on my thanks to everyone that turned out, as well as the entrants, helpers and supporters, for making it a successful club event."
